here is a thought:
people have certain rights. these rights apply to ever single human being regardless of race, gender, religion, sexuality and everything else that can be imagined.
i believe people have the right to do what they choose to do as long as it does not infringe on the right of other people to do the same.
you want to take drugs? go for it, the drug war is bullshit. it is the government wasting our money fighting ghosts with money that should be used for rehab centers and educational programs that could help addicts recover. yeah, that would make sense though and we don't like making sense in this country.
you want to marry someone that is the same sex as you? good, go for it. you have every right. this government was designed to protect the rights of individuals within the nation. it was also designed to keep religion separate from the political system. so, if you are going to ban gay marriage on the basis that it is against the Bible, or the Quran, or any other religious text, you are defacing and disgracing the nation. separationg of church and state is a basic principle of this nation and has been since the beginning.
do you have the right to free healthcare? well here is something to think about: the united states of america is the only industrialized nation that does not have some form of national healthcare. all other 'elevated,' 'evolved,' and 'intellectual' nations have figured out that healthcare is not a privilege it is a right. so, yes i believe we all have the right to free healthcare, we need to work on that one.
these are just my opinions. however, they follow the simple logic and true spirit of our nation. i can just see james madison and thomas jefferson vomiting at the thought of constitutional amendments based on religious principles that would infringe upon the rights of another human. yeah...that is funny.
rant done...for now.
